Great news and not so good news: a brandname-new trailer for 'Ghost Driver: Spirit of Vengeance' has showed up ... but, regrettably, it doesn't feature Nicolas Cage pissing fire. (Curses!) Actually, the brand new trailer does quite a congrats of depressing any trashy anticipation you might have had from 'Ghost Driver: Spirit of Vengeance.' Despite lots of fire-breathing and ass-kicking from Ghost Driver themself, the brand new trailer features a lot of cheesy, cliched dialogue we have come to anticipate from Cage films through the years. 'Ghost Driver: Spirit of Vengeance,' which stars Cage, Johnny Whitworth and Idris Elba, hits theaters February. 17, 2012. [via Yahoo!] Follow Moviefone on Twitter Like Moviefone on Facebook

Why 'Tintin' and 'Rango' Stand Out Among This Year's Animated Awards Contenders (Opinion)
Weta Digital Ltd./Paramount Pictures Mirroring the situation among live-action features, there is no obvious front-runner in the world of animation this year, no roadrunner that has left its would-be competition in the dust. Another way of putting it is that, for the first time in a while, Pixar hasn't delivered one of its timeless classics that leaves virtually no room for argument.our editor recommendsGolden Globes Preview: 'Tintin,' 'Cars 2' Faceoff in Animation Category'Rango' to Receive Animation Award at 15th annual Hollywood Film Awards (Exclusive)'Rio' Dominates DVD Sales Chart for Third Straight Week'Puss in Boots' Box Office Boosts DreamWorks Animation Shares 'The Adventures of Tintin': Never-Before-Seen Footage Promises Plenty of Action (Video) Among the dozen significant animated releases of 2011 were four sequels, including Pixar's Cars 2, which was not as bad as some naysayers insist but lacks the heart associated with the company's best films and was sabotaged by too much hayseed humor. Falling alarmingly short of its predecessor is Happy Feet Two, which simply doesn't offer enough fresh ideas and narrative oomph, and even more excruciating was Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil, a lamentably cheap-looking undertaking so out of synch with current sensibilities that it seems to belong more to the pre-animation renaissance days of the 1980s. PHOTOS: It's a Zoo This Season: 23 Awards Contenders Featuring Animals The one good sequel by some distance, then, was Kung Fu Panda 2, which takes the trouble to improve upon the original, even if only slightly, in every department, notably with a less generic story and more sophisticated visuals. As for the rest, Gnomeo & Juliet and Mars Needs Moms merit little discussion, while Rio is a fizzy tropical party one forgets the next day. Disney's new rendition of Winnie the Pooh garnered significant praise in some quarters for the delicacy of its animation, but I found it very hard to make it even through the barely one-hour running time, so precisely aimed is it to a pre-literate public. PHOTOS: Steven Spielberg's 'The Adventures of Tintin' In a more irreverent vein, Arthur Christmas cleverly provides high-tech answers to the age-old question of how Santa distributes so many presents around the world. This is not Aardman Animation at its very best, as the climax becomes too protracted, but it's welcome for its non-Hollywood flavor. Similarly good but not great is Puss in Boots, DreamWorks' Shrek spinoff that boasts lively characters and ripping good action in a format that feels more familiar than fresh. Which leaves two films at the top of the animation heap for 2011. After suffering through Robert Zemeckis' repeated attempts to jam a new bastard technology down our collective throats, I never wanted to see another motion-capture film in my life. But from the opening credits of Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin, I was entirely disarmed and remained so for the entire film. More than he ever did in the three Indiana Jones sequels, Spielberg has almost entirely recaptured the spirit of genuine adventure and retro insouciance that distinguished Raiders of the Lost Ark. Even though the characters retain a facial blandness and inexpressiveness compared to either live action or expert cartooning, they still come through with real personality, beginning with Tintin himself. The staging and choreography of the action sequences go beyond anything that could be done in live action, and it's exhilarating to discover that Spielberg is still as up for conceiving such exciting roller-coaster rides now as he was 30 years ago. PHOTOS: 'Happy Feet Two' Blue Carpet Premiere Arrivals The great virtues of Tintin notwithstanding, the best and most entertaining animated film for me this year was Rango. A rambunctious, free-spirited mashup of countless cinematic references, this shows director Gore Verbinski making his escape from years in the Caribbean with the feel of a man liberated, putting a wonderful voice cast at the service of a cleverly madcap John Logan script that pushes into unexpected realms verbally and visually. Most immediately apparent is the film's pictorial richness, no doubt raised several notches by visual consultant Roger Deakins; the hyper-realism of the film's style bracingly tips over into surrealism at times but more often plays the trick of making you suspect the picture was actually shot with a camera rather than animated, so attentive is it to such cinematic niceties as framing, use of color, light and shadow and minute detail; visually, despite its confinement to 2D, the film is as stimulating and inventive as anything in 3D. Rango absolutely has the feel of a film buff's lark, not unlike what Quentin Tarantino does, and was criticized by a minority on this basis. But a solid foundation and sufficient narrative progress keep the flights of fancy in manageable orbits, and virtually every scene evinces an intoxicating relish for cinema. To top it off, in the absence of any significant live-action contribution to the genre, Rango did its bit to keep the Western alive in 2011. ICM Imploding, Part 2: Chris Silbermann Forces Decision By Biggest Investor And Calls ICM Board Meeting Friday Privately Depending On Mike Ovitzs Help And Advice
ICM Imploding! Chris Silbermann & Shaun Berg Fight For Control: Rizvi Sits On Sidelines How Lengthy Will Warring Last? BREAKING … ICM leader Chris Silbermann and ICM Chief Business Development Officer & General Counsel Ron Levy required the red-colored-eye from L.A. last evening and showed up in NY today to confront the company’s investor Suhail Rizvi and have to have a management buyout as quickly as possible that will get rid of the tenpercentery of majority investor Rizvi Traverse Management. This follows a 13-day-old demand by Silbermann and Levy to Rizvi to permit the management buyout. In those days, Rizvi stated he'd come to a decision by Christmas. But which was not in no time for Silbermann and Levy, who today attempted to pressure Rizvi to create his decision sooner. Rizvi told the executive pair he might have a solution on their behalf tomorrow. Also tomorrow, Silbermann and Levy have required an ICM board meeting to allow them to present the management buyout proposal. At this time, however, sources let me know the pair haven't posted an itemized proposal ahead of time towards the board. If they'd like to present a natural written proposal tomorrow remains to appear. Both Silbermann and Levy are enroute back from NY to L.A. tonight for tomorrow’s board meeting. But what's really startling about ICM and Silbermann at this time is the fact that he's involved the one and only Michael Ovitz in the intends to seize control from the agency. Initially when i first learned about this several several weeks ago, I requested Silbermann and Ovitz individually when they were speaking, planning, or whatsoever involved together in ICM activities. Both Silbermann and Ovitz independently refused it. However I will tell you that Silbermann continues to be speaking just about every day to Ovitz concerning the management buyout plan, as frequently as four occasions each day lately. My sources have experienced the telephone logs. Associates let me know that Silbermann visited Ovitz for assist in acquiring the required financial resources to complete the management buyout. I’m told that Ovitz isn't interested at putting their own money in to the agency at this time, but continues to be attempting to introduce Silbermann to numerous financial backers. The truth that Silbermann has requested and it is receiving Ovitz’s help and advice within this ICM matter will end up a hot-button problem not only inside ICM however in Hollywood generally. Ovitz remains among Hollywood’s most questionable and resented business personas ever to be successful within this town. His status was further damaged lately when he earned a move ahead giant sports and fashion management and production firm IMG when its owner and Ovitz’s longtime friend Teddy Forstmann is at the ultimate stages of dying from brain cancer. (See Michael Ovitz And IMG World And Teddy Forstmanns Brain Cancer: The Actual Story, As Well As What Ovitz Explained About This.) Ovitz’s controlling as part of IMG’s advisory board after he was placed there by Forstmann tried to dislodge Teddy’s hands-selected successor from running the organization. After his controlling is discovered and promoted, Ovitz was began the board. Soon after, Forstmann died. But IMG has become at the disposal of his hands-selected successor. Hollywood responded with outrage to news of Ovitz’s controlling: there’s every reason to think that Hollywood is going to be equally annoyed that Silbermann is including him within the ICM implosion. This is particularly the situation because for many years Ovitz would be a key competitor to ICM chairman and Boss Shaun Berg, whom Silbermann really wants to remove from manipulating the agency. Berg consequently continues to be fighting back. The infighting has torn apart ICM internally to the stage where agents are having to choose sides between your two males. MORE

Julia Roberts to Produce, Star in Workplace Comedy 'Second Act' (Exclusive)
In the current issue of The Hollywood Reporter, senior film reporter Pamela McClintock sat down with the notoriously press-shy Christian Bale, 37,and famed 60-year-old Chinese director Zhang Yimou(Raise the Red Lantern), who together just finished making the most expensive Chinese movie ever, the historical epic, The Flowers of War. The movie centers on Bale as a mourning American mortician who seeks refuge in a Catholic cathedral and finds himself in the middle of a war, in a story based on the Rape of Nanking, the brutal invasion of Nanking by the Japanese army in 1937. The movie will be released for one week in America in late December; it premieres in China on Dec. 16. In this exclusive interview, the men, who clearly like each other enormously, reveal how an American actor came to be the star of a Chinese major motion picture, Bale's 20-year fascination with the director, and how they overcame cultural and language barriers.our editor recommends'Flowers of War' Trailer: Christian Bale Protects Girls From Invading Japanese in 1937 China (Video)Christian Bale Chinese Epic 'Flowers of War' Nears U.S. Distribution Deal (Exclusive)'The Dark Knight Rises' Marks the End of Christian Bale's Batman EraHow Christian Bale Is Raising the Bar in ChinaZhang Yimou To Be Honored at Asia Pacific Screen AwardsChina Chooses Zhang Yimou's Christian Bale starrer 'Flowers of War' for Oscar Foreign Language SubmissionToronto 2011: Top U.S. Buyers Get First Glimpse of Christian Bale's 'The Flowers of War' PHOTOS: The Christian Bale Directors Posse: 6 Auteurs Won Over By the Actor BALE SAYS SIGNING ON TO THE FILM WAS A 'NO-BRAINER' With a penchant for demanding and far-flung assignments, Bale says he quickly accepted the offer to star in Zhang's epic when it came to him through his William Morris Endeavor agentsPatrick WhitesellandBoomer Malkin, even though he spoke no Mandarin (Mou Mou translated on the set)."Some people scratched their heads when I told them I wanted to do the project and said, 'Really, why?' I don't understand that sort of thinking," says Bale. "I like the adventure aspect of making movies, so the opportunity to work in China, not on an American movie, but on a Chinese movie, really appealed to me. How many times do you get that sort of opportunity, and on top of that, get to work with a fantastic director? It was a no-brainer."Says Whitesell: "One of the reasons I was excited was that this will up Christian's exposure in China. It could be China'sSaving Private Ryan." PHOTOS: First Look On the Set of 'The Dark Knight Rises' Bale was in the midst of preparing for the release ofThe Fighterwhen he received the script, and was immediately drawn in by the story."This was a very poignant and painful moment in Chinese history and I was drawn to the radical difference between the atrocities that happen, versus the incredible humanity that emerges," Bale says. "Yimou and I had spoken a little about the character, and this was not a guy who was a hero from the get-go, this was a guy who really just wanted to have a good time in China and make a buck." PHOTOS: 10 Top Summer Superheroes Of All Time WHY BALE WAS UNNERVED WHEN HE GOT TO THE SET Bale was baffled to find stone-cold silence when he arrived on the set of Yimou's $100 million historical epicThe Flowers of Warin January. After the 14-hour flight from Los Angeles to Nanjing, China, Bale found it downright unnerving. Sets are usually noisy hubs, not mausoleums."There were a couple of hundred people just staring at me. Even Yimou was whispering. I thought to myself, 'I guess this is how it's done in China,' " Bale recalls. "It turns out they'd all gotten together the day before and said that in the States, everybody is quiet on the set. I told them, 'Please, start shouting.' " One of the more awkward moments of the shoot came when Zhang asked Bale if he would instruct the first-time actors. Bale was stunned, since no director he's ever worked with would tolerate such an intrusion."Yimou explained that it's different in China, and that the more experienced actor is considered rude if he or she doesn't tell a less-experienced actor how to do a scene," Bale says. "What we had was a culture clash of what's acceptable, and what's not. I mean for me to tread on Yimou's toes would be incredibly arrogant. I just couldn't do it. At the same time, I didn't want to be perceived as being rude myself."Bale came up with a plan -- he was willing to leave the set and speak to an actor, but only if Zhang came along. VIDEO: 'Flowers of War' Trailer HOW ZHANG CONVINCED THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT TO GREEN LIGHT HIS SENSITIVE-SUBJECT FILM Over the years, Zhang has had his issues with the Chinese government -- several of his films were banned -- and on its face,Flowers of Warwas potentially problematic."This is not the sort of mainstream movie the Chinese government would usually approve," Zhang says."The story of the Rape of Nanking has been told before in films, and is a very political and serious subject," Zhang says, "but what intrigued me about this story was that it's actually told from the female perspective, so it's more humane and has a personal touch."Zhang researched the Rape of Nanking for more than three years, and some of the film's more graphic scenes were drawn from actual photographs, while the movie itself was based on Geling Yan's novelThe 13 Women of Nanjing. "Topics about foreigners, about religion and about World War II are not well-received by the government, but because this movie is about who we are as humans, and what we would do to save other people, the government actually supported it." STORY: Christian Bale Goes to China STEVEN SPIELBERG AND DAVID LINDE BOTH RECOMMENDED BALE TO ZHANG Zhang Yimou and producing partnerZhang Weiping knew from the start that they would need to land a Western actor to play the central character in the book. (Westerners played a crucial role in documenting the invasion of Nanking since the Japanese were not targeting them and they could evade danger and even get out.).Bale was at the top of the list, based on his ability to adapt and be completely in tune with new situations. Steven Spielberg, who had cast Bale inEmpire of the Sunyears earlier, also recommended the actor to his friend Zhang Yimou. Zhang is certain of one thing -- Bale is about to become famous at the Chinese box office. Many of the actor's films haven't been released in theaters there, includingThe Dark KnightandThe Fighter, although Bale reports with a laugh that pirated copies of both films were widely available on the streets of Nanjing.Indeed, the first time Zhang watched a copy ofThe Fighter, the subtitles were botched. After he was done shootingFlowers of War, he watched another copy. This time, the subtitles were right. With a glint returning to his eye, and the end to the interview at the Montage approaching, Zhang tells Bale: "I regret that I didn't seeThe Fighterwith the good subtitles the first time. Your performance was so good, I would have added more scenes for you inFlowers of War." STORY: Top U.S. Buyers Get First Glimpse of Christian Bale's 'The Flowers of War' WHAT THIS MEANS FOR HOLLYWOOD AND CHINA China's cash-flush film industry and box office are exploding, and Hollywood is feverishly trying to gain entry to a marketplace severely restricted by the government's quota limiting the annual number of Western films to 20.IfFlowers of Warworks, a whole new revenue stream could open up for Western actors (not to mention producers, directors and writers). At a $100 million budget, Zhang's movie is the most expensive production ever mounted in China, and Bale likely received millions for his work and perhaps a piece of the back end in an era of shrinking U.S. budgets. For their part, Hollywood studios have been busy focusing on striking co-production partnerships with Chinese film companies, such as Legendary Pictures' newly announced pact with Huayi Brothers and the creation of Legendary East. The first project is theEdward Zwick-directedThe Great Wall, which won't be subject to the quota."China is the fastest-growing market in the world. Co-productions are advantageous both for revenue share purposes and the challenges of the quota system," says Sanford Panitch, president of Fox International Productions, which has made four films in China with a local partner, including box-office hitsHot Summer Daysand its sequelLove in Space. Intentions are one thing, carrying out that vision is another. American audiences are notoriously finicky about watching a movie with subtitles, even if that movie stars a famous actor and is 40 percent in English. (The highest-grossing Chinese movie to date is 2000'sCrouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which earned $128.1 million domestically.) PHOTOS: Hollywood's Top 10 Grossing Films WHAT'S NEXT FOR BALE The interview took place just three days after Balewrapped production onthe last Batman movie,The Dark Knight Rises, shot in India, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and NY City. But the actor isn't fazed by the end of the Batman franchise, and already has moved on. Approximately he states. Here's Gervais’ publish: Therefore it appears like I’m hosting The Golden Globes for any third and certainly final time. It had been a difficult decision to tell the truth. There have been many benefits and drawbacks. I loved doing the work, however i was worried which i couldn’t enhance this past year. I’m in LA anyway when i’m starting Existence’s Way Too Short on Cinemax. However I didn’t want the Globes to overshadow the series. Kermit on Jason Segel's Nude Scene: He Had 'Shortcomings' [VIDEO]
.post-content img {display:none;} The Muppets aren't exactly known for their risqué humor. Sure, they've been known to toss a bone to the adults in the room, but you rarely hear anything that wouldn't score a hard G from the MPAA. Which makes this sneak peek of Moviefone's upcoming 'Muppets' Unscripted session all the more surprising (and hilarious). It starts when Kermit relays a fan question about actor (and 'Muppets' screenwriter) Jason Segel's full-frontal nude scene in 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' and evolves into a fuzz-raising discussion of nudity on camera. Your #MuppetOscars Campaign is in Full Swing -- Is That a Good Thing?
It’s been roughly 13 minutes since Eddie Murphy departed as Oscar host, and already we have a strong frontrunner to replace Brett Ratner’s comeback kid: The Muppets. Supporters rallied on Twitter for their consideration, and now an official “The Muppets Should Host the 2012 Oscars” campaign has been launched on Facebook. We offered up the idea of a Muppet-emceed Oscars in our possible host roundup yesterday, but would the reality of Kermit, Miss Piggy, and Gonzo at the dais be as enchanting as we want? Let’s consider that this Oscar campaign doubles as a publicity stunt ahead of The Muppets’s November 23 premiere. The convenience makes me cynical about the fast-growing cause, but of course, this entire cause is based in cynicism: Those backing the campaign have the same mantra: “Well, that’s an Oscars I’d watch!” Read: They’re not the regular Oscar viewership. I’m sure many of these same people were ecstatic to learn that James Franco and Anne Hathaway were going to host the show last year, as it represented a fresh, populist changing of the guard. We already catered to them once. Look what happened. I think it’s wiser to erase Ratner’s stench with a more reliable candidate like Tina Fey or Neil Patrick Harris before we hand over an entire ceremony to the Muppets. Furthermore, though Oscar hosts are mainly responsible for reading one-liners off a teleprompter, the essential element in an Academy Awards telecast is spontaneity. The Muppets would be cute as toastmasters, no doubt, but they’re just not able to be present and reactive. Could they respond to a hissing crowd? Bitingly? Could they gauge audience reactions at all? Most importantly, are they allowed to be sarcastic? Even the safest Oscar hosts (Billy Crystal, Ellen Degeneres) have to resort to sarcasm in order to level with the fickle home audience, and I just don’t know if a four-hour sequence of canned jokes, awkward staging, and vanilla humor will be that exhilarating. That said: I hope the Muppets present a big chunk of the technical categories. That’s where we need their sped-up, mechanized pep. #MuppetOscars Facebook Campaign

Cheyenne Jackson And Ken Jenkins To Co-Star In USAs Nathan Lane Comedy Pilot
EXCLUSIVE: Cheyenne Jackson (Glee, 30 Rock) and Scrubs alum Ken Jenkins are set to co-star opposite Nathan Lane in USA’s untitled Douglas McGrath comedy pilot. The single-camera comedy, which Oscar nominee McGrath (Bullets Over Broadway) wrote and will direct, centers on Jasper (Lane), an unlucky actor whose Broadway aspirations must be put on hold when his fathers health takes a turn for worse, forcing him to return to his Texas hometown. Jackson will play Tim, a handsome doctor who befriends Jasper in his Texas hometown. McGrath and Lane are executive producing for Universal Cable Prods. “It was a tremendous casting session,” USA’s SVP original scripted programming Bill McGoldrick said. “It is rare that you pick 2 people in the first casting session, and the runner-ups were very strong too.” This is one of 2 comedy pilots USA recently greenlit as part of its foray into half-hours. The deals for the other, Paging Dr. Freed, are still being finalized.

The X Factor: Weve Showed up at the final 12!
Congratulations, everybody! We now have braved our way through mansions, refurbishments, and maniacal mentors, getting finally turned up within the final 12. Now, it's around us to find out who stays. The Brit host (is his title Steve, or Mike?) doesn't waste whenever and moves to Paula's first act.The Stereo system system Hoggz Ouchhhh ... charge singer really blows the initial verse in the song. They execute a well-choreographed version of Jesse Jackson's "Rhythm Nation." However gold-embellished kneepads truly couldn't safeguard them here. They were totally off-key and missed the aim. L.A., however, thinks they've the required steps to become star and Paula giggles as being a schoolgirl. Simon states it absolutely was a "master class of choreography, vocals, charisma" ... blah, blah, blah. Wait! Am I watching the identical show? It'll be a extended evening.Chris Rene According to him he's a hard time relevant along with other people lyrics because he's more in touch with their very own tunes, but you'd have no idea based on his performance. I still think he might require more vocal training, however loved the performance generally. Things I didn't like? The insanely cheesy flames overflowing beyond him the entire time! The thing that was that? ("That's call fire baby, cause he's hot," L.A. later describes). It made an appearance as being a "make-your-own-music-video" situation created around the bootleg iMovie program. Simon believe it is a sizable step-up from what Rene did the other day.Leroy Bell Singing Lonestar's "Already There," it seems like Bell and also the coach Nicole are fighting to discover a appropriate song choice. Simon thinks Bell features a confidence problem, and Paula states, "I have not observed anybody work so desperately. I like you." There's nothing particularly standout in regards to the performance, but nothing elimination-worthy, either. Rachel Crowe Crowe takes happens searching cute and small boppery of course. There's no denying girl's got a little of pipes, but whether it is nerves or insufficient skill, it seems like all week she's major issues projecting. Also, she seems consistently nervous and stiff, which holds her back from thrusting herself to the performance full pressure. But given her age, In my opinion she's doing fantastic. "You are America's sunshine," states Nicole. "Even though you're only 13 years old, there is a classic recording voice. Kind of like Michael Jackson inside the Jackson 5?" Let's pray that's their only similarity.Dakota Rayne Since Paula is actually deep, she decides all the four women will represent a season for your performance. Because you will discover four women, and four seasons, that's perfect! She puts them in four different primary-colored dresses that seem to be such as these were bought inside the promenade part of Joyce Leslie. Now, that isn't saying there's anything wrong with Joyce Leslie. But around the demonstrate that gets the budget to outfit its artists in couture, it's just kind of ... inexcusable. Ultimately expected an even more literal interpretation (a la "Turn! Turn! Turn! to Everything There is a Season"), Paula has them sing "Landslide," which is quite beautiful. For reasons uknown I keep trying to doubt these women, and so they still surprise me each week. "Tonight I felt the blend. Tonight I felt the harmonies," states L.A. "I buy frustrated because I still would love you not that need considering a 'tweener. There's something pop, there's something country ... but I wish for you being either.InchJosh Krajcik Another week, another destitute man's beard for Krajcik. As soon as he breaks the initial few lyrics from the song, I have got an incredible feeling relating to this. Which he did not dissatisfy. A distinctive selection for a raspy-voiced hairy dude, he's carrying out a stomach-wrenching interpretation of Christina Perri's "Jar of Hearts" (though he looks a bit demonic at certain points inside the performance). I have to commend Nicole round the unique, out-of-left-area song here. Paula states, "You just nail everything." Simon states, "I recieve back everything I mentioned. That was incredible. It's just like you written the song. It absolutely was absolutely stunning. You needed some risk, plus it paid out off."Melanie Amaro The ousted-then-not-ousted Amaro starts out a capella, after which it moves right into a difficult version of "Desperado." I mentioned this the other day: Doesn't she look amazing? If there has been a "most enhanced" style award, Amaro would be the shoo-in. And let's face is - she's furthermore a shoo-directly into remain in the finals. She's inside the major leagues because the relaxation of individuals fools are fighting maintain in Double-A. Paula states hearing her voice is similar to "antique china. Just remove it for special occasions.Inch Is also a pick-up line.Astro We're closing in round the 70-minute mark and everyone is almost asleep prior to the little silver-pants-wearing spitfire takes happens! Seriously, he's so active that Astro allows you to definitely appear as if you are getting left behind if you're not using everyone else. L.A states he just get "better and betterInch each week. But tend to a Brooklyn-based baby rapper really win this competition? InTENsity Sure, those are the audience everyone loves to hate, but let's stop for just about any second and discuss the only real individual who matters: Ellona. If there has been an easy method for Paula to eliminate another nine and push Ellona through just like a solo-artist, In my opinion she'd stand a fighting chance. For that relaxation of those? Pretty intolerable. They execute a mash-from "We're the kids within the usaInch and "Party Rock" that's fun and likely their utmost performance so far, however it won't win them $5 million. Nicole confirms with me at night, calling the performance "fun-tastic" and "fun-omenal!" This type of knee-slapper!Came The hippie-chic soul singer starts her performance lounging in the bed mattress of flowers, sporting her signature barefoot style plus an age-appropriate pink frock. She sings Nelly's "Merely a Dream" - a sound lesson that ought to make no sense on her behalf - but it's incredibly charming. After what we view up to now, I anticipate a Came-Astro-Melanie final three. Maybe I'm moving too quickly? Anyway, L.A. states: "There is a spirit in the celebrity."Marcus Canty One factor this individual does not lack is swagger. He's consistently easy on stage, as being a natural-born artist who's experienced the biz for any very long time. In my opinion he's the heavens the X Factor is trying to find, however question if he's unique enough inside an industry saturated with youthful, male stylish-hop/pop crossover artists. Simon: "You've arrived at existence. It absolutely was a great song choice. Props for you personally, L.A." L.A states: "I like assist you to arrived at existence, my guy." Stacy Francis Francis claims she was upset by Simon's chapel-singer comparison the other day, yet gives her most chapel-singerish performance so far. Once again, her voice works well and moving - in addition to, she looks phenomenal in the floor-length sequin number. L.A states she stirs souls when she sings. Nicole states: "You're just honest. You're the epitome of sophistication, and poise, and wonder, and you're simply fulfilling your own purpose.InchSo who's going home tomorrow evening? That are the apparent-cut front-runners? I made a decision in my final three (Came, Astro, Melanie) - can you agree? Weigh in below! show less

'The Simpsons' Renewed for Two More Seasons
Fox The Simpsons are safe for two more seasons, which will bring them to a historic 25 years on network TV, longer than any other scripted series. PHOTOS: 'The Simpsons': Meet The Cast After tense negotiations with the voice acting cast for a renewal, Fox announced Friday afternoon that the longest running comedy in history will return for a 24th and 25th season. Fox did not reveal the terms of the deals with the actors, but sources say they accepted a sharp cut in pay, of around 30% from the $440,000 for each of 22 episodes they had been making. That would be just over $300,000 per episode. EXCLUSIVE: 'Simpsons' Cast Blinks in Salary Showdown With Fox There was no specific mention in the Fox announcement about the actor but all of them are believed set to return. That would include Julie Kavner (Marge and others), Nancy Cartwright (Bart and others), Yeardley Smith (Lisa), Hank Azaria (Moe, Chief Wiggum and Apu), and Harry Shearer (the voice of Mr. Burns, Principal Skinner, and Ned Flanders, among others). The battle between Fox and its voice actors has been a regular event every few years since 1998 but this time around was particularly bitter and public. Fox took the unusual step of issuing a statement saying the show's economic model no longer was viable, and that it had to reduce costs. There were reports the producers, writers and actors would all see their compensation reduced. There was even a leak to one blog that there would be only one more season of The Simpsons in any case, which obviously has turned out to be incorrect. STORY: Analyst: Fox Could Get Around $750 Million in New Syndication Revenue After 'Simpsons' Cancellation During the heated negotiations, the actors volunteered to lower their salaries but sought a share of back end profits from things like syndication and licensing. Shearer even said early Friday he would take a 70% salary cut in return for a share of the profits. The studio held firm and refused to pay them any profit sharing. The actor's do get extra pay when their voice is used as part of licensing but otherwise do not share in that revenue. Source say with this new deal they still will not have any cut of the back end profits. Fox said in its announcement The Simpsons will return on Oct. 30 with new episodes, beginning with the "Treehouse of Horrors XXII." The Simpsons, which is distributed by Fox, is a Gracie Films Production in association with 20th Century Fox Television. James L. Brooks, Matt Groening and Al Jean are the executive producers. Dancing with the Stars Episode Recap: Monday, Oct. 3, 2011
It's storytelling time! Dancing with the Stars' Top 10 stars express the most memorable year of their lives through dance. Who cried? And who got the first 9s of the season? Find out below!Break out the Kleenex! You know there are gonna be some tearjerkers tonight. As Tom states, "They're all dancing from the heart." Who writes this stuff? I can't say I've ever sobbed watching Dancing with the Stars' storytelling week... but I may have cried for other reasons while watching. Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke: foxtrotRob's most memorable year was 2003 when his dad, Robert Sr., died of esophageal cancer (the eighth anniversary was on Friday). He was 15 at the time and his world was "turned upside down." They're dancing to "Fly Me to the Moon" because it's one of his dad's favorites. The home videos of the clan are actually quite adorable, and the girls look, um, natural. Speaking of natural, Rob looks exactly that on the floor, which I never thought I'd say. His frame and posture are looking good, and there's a cool, old-school, suave charm about the whole thing. He gets a standing O from everyone except Kim until the camera lands on her and she obediently rises. Len says he just put the "dash" into "Kardashian." Then who puts the "dash" in D-A-S-H? Bruno says the man is getting the upper hand and invokes Guys and Dolls. Rob is clueless. Unsurprising. Carrie Ann says he "genu-winely" makes progress every week.Score: 24Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani: rumbaChynna's year is 1990 when "Hold On" was released. (Hey, guess what they're dancing to!) She was suffering from depression and anxiety and the time, and eventually sought help and met Billy Baldwin. Tony wants to incorporate running because she eventually "ran away from the negativity." Oh, Tony! So literal! Thankfully, there's not too much running going on. Chynna looks positively gorgeous. Her limbs are extended beautifully and the routine, while not overwhelmingly steamy, does pack some heat. Bruno calls her a smoldering siren and thinks she belongs in a museum. Carrie Ann calls her stunning and nearly gives me heart attack when she says, "I have never heard that song...[longest pause ever] like that." Actually, on second thought, I wouldn't have been surprised if she really hadn't heard of it. Len says she's going to be dancing for weeks and weeks... and then busts out a 9 before Carrie Ann! Someone took his happy pills!Score: 26Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer: rumbaChaz's most memorable year is this year because he's the happiest he's ever been. He chose his dad's "Laugh at Me" about Sonny and Cher's younger years when they were thrown out of places and didn't give a darn. Chaz dedicates it to his pops and even dons the animal-print fur vest. So psychedelic! Chaz seems... tired? I know dude's knees are shot, but this dance is easier on them. He's just kind of standing there while Lacey does her best maypole dancing around him. But, uh, he's really good with the arm waves! Sigh. Chaz's time may finally be up this week, based on performance alone - and this is only the third dance of the night. Carrie Ann is impressed by Chaz's courage, but thinks he looked distracted and didn't dance enough. Len the contrarian says it was his best dance so far. Seriously, what is he on today? Bruno understands why he lost focus since the rumba needs continuous movement.Score: 18Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas: sambaKristin's year is 2005 because that was when she graduated high school and moved to L.A. She chose "Crazy in Love" because it was a "really big song then." Um, it was big in 2003 - when it came out. But, yeah, let's rewrite history to suit your story, which wasn't really a story. Kristin's no Beyonce (who is?), but she does a pretty stellar job with the high-octane moves. Girl can dance, no doubt about it. It's a fun, electric number, and she nails all the shimmying, hip action and rolls. Len didn't like the Beyonce stuff, but loved the other 80 percent. Bruno calls it "crazy in lust." "Who can say 'no' after that?" he demands. Carrie Ann likes that Kristin's pushing herself to the limit.Score: 24Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya: tangoCarson chose "It's My Life" and 2003 because that's when Queer Eye debuted and he got to be himself after years of being closeted. Inspired by Carson yearning for her pumps, Anna choreographs the whole thing around his sense of style. They start off on a pseudo-runway, which is just fab. Even more fab? Carson's wearing a hot pink satin jacket. Fashion aside, this is his best dance yet that is equal parts entertaining and technically proficient. It's sassy, full of flair and tension as they face off over (duh) Anna's shoe. Carson's footwork and hold have improved, and he's totally going after every move. They end with him finally (!) getting his hands on Anna's heel. Now that is a story. Bruno calls it "insanely brilliant." "And you got the shoe! And yes, you'll make it to the ball!" he growls. Carrie Ann declares that she loves him. Len says he puts the "boy" in "flamboyant." Well, we all knew that.Score: 23J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff: rumbaJ.R.'s most memorable year was when he was injured in Iraq in 2003 driving over a landmine. While recovering, he felt he would've been better off dead and didn't understand why he survived. His mother eventually talked him out of his depression. They're dancing to Tim McGraw's "If You're Reading This" about a soldier who sends a letter home to pay tribute to all the men and women who didn't make it home. You can feel the emotion on set from your living room. J.R., as usual, nails the choreography with some nice hip action and lines. But let's face it, nothing's going to beat the poignancy of the routine. He starts crying and can't stop when he's done while the whole room gives him a prolonged standing O. Carrie Ann says he did something extraordinary and thanks him for such a profound dance. Len says he set the standard for the season. Bruno calls him a hero and source of inspiration. "You dance from your heart," he says.Score: 26Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus: waltzNancy's memorable year is this year because of Casey Anthony. Kidding! It's 2007, when she got married and delivered her twins, Lucy and John David, early because of pregnancy complications. Doctors told her Lucy might die, and when Lucy was hospitalized, "Moon River," which was also Nancy's wedding song, was the first tune she sang to her daughter. Nancy stumbles a little in the beginning and has trouble with a few steps here and there, but puts forth another solid performance. She still needs to work on her frame and upper body, but the ballroom stuff suits her. It's a graceful and lovely ode to her kiddies, who look exactly like her. And best part yet? No wardrobe malfunction! Len wants better posture and likes that she showed emotion. Bruno compares it to a mother's embrace and wants her to link her lines. Carrie Ann calls it a live-action lullaby.Score: 21Ricki Lake and Derek Hough: rumbaRicki's year was last year when her house burned down and she was down on love and marriage. She met her current boyfriend, Christian, at the time, who taught her to say "never say never." She chose Sara Bareilles' "Gravity," and the routine will depict the push-pull of the beginning stages of her relationship. Ricki's got some killer legs, or specifically, calves. And now I'm thinking of Johnny Drama getting calf implants. Anyhow, it's a beautiful, sensual routine that again proof that Derek is the best choreographer on the show. Ricki has such natural, fluid rhythm, but she's lacking in the hip department. Bruno basically calls it a poem come to life and says it was the actress-dancer at her best. Carrie Ann says Ricki's on fire. Len congratulates Derek on a great routine and Ricki on dancing it. And they all bust out the 9 paddles. The Golden Boy is officially back!Score: 27Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovksiy: cha-chaHope's year is this year because of the World Cup, where she learned it was about the journey when the gals didn't win. Hope has trouble with the sexy moves in rehearsals, but has no trouble getting down and grinding against Maks - and she looks hot doing it. Despite this, there is stilla lack of spark between them. She's hesitant on some steps and needs some sharper footwork, but it's a much better performance than last week's seizure-inducing mess. Carrie Ann says it was sexy, but wants her to work on her walk. Len found it too provocative (guess the pills are wearing off?), but thought she executed well. Bruno says she was going for it like a panther, but agrees about the walk. It's fake-raining. Oh, I see where this is going. David is going for the open-shirt look. Looks like he got his spray-tan on, but not the waxing. This is a pretty fast rumba, but David keeps up and hits his lines and marks well. There is by far his best dance yet. He's controlled, but still aggressive. It's not an overtly sexy rumba, but rather a sweet and vulnerable one. Len thinks he did a great job. Bruno calls it achingly romantic. Carrie Ann loves his raw emotion. Courteney, Coco, Patricia and Busy Philipps love it! Score: 24Ricki and Derek top the leader board with a 27. Chaz and Lacey once again bring up the rear with an 18.What did you think? 6 Burning Questions From House's Season 8 Premiere
House [WARNING: The following story contains spoilers from the Season 8 premiere of House. Read at your own risk.]House's Season 8 premiere once again proved the show's mantra: People don't change. Even in prison.Fall Preview: Get scoop on all your favorite returning showsDr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) was the same old curmudgeon he always is, whether he was expressing (false) remorse for running his car through Cuddy's house to the members of his parole board only because that's what they wanted to hear or making another doctor's diagnosis look stupid. But even if House is the same old House, the premiere, which found the good doctor trying to save a mysteriously afflicted inmate while also scavenging to find 20 Vicodin pills for a jailhouse gang leader, proved the world around him certainly has changed. For starters, by episode's end, he's still behind bars! So, when's he getting out? And what's in store for his return to Princeton-Plainsboro? Check out some of our burning questions.1. Why is House still in jail?Creator and executive producer David Shore assures us the show won't become a prison series, but he says he felt strongly that the show had to punish House, both for crimes of the past (ramming Cuddy's house with his car) and present (disobeying orders, inciting a prison riot, etc.). "We want the consequences to be real," Shore says. "It's really important to us that we play the truth of the situations and follow up on them. If House f---- things up, he can't just get rewarded for that."House Season 8: Will House's time in the slammer change him?2. So, when is he getting out?Fear not, the good doctor will be sprung in next Monday's episode. But, Shore says, "Episode 2 takes place a considerable amount of time after Episode 1. There will be an acknowledgment that time has passed. He gets out under unusual circumstances, but not without having spent more time [in prison]."3. Did House not hire a lawyer on purpose? As Dr. Adams (new series regular Odette Annable) pointed out in the episode, House probably could have negotiated a much shorter prison sentence (or avoided the pokey all together) if he'd hired a lawyer. But he chose to represent himself and do the time. Did he secretly want to be punished? Shore says... maybe. "House is one who is always willing to pay a price for doing something," Shore says. "He'll avoid it if at all possible, but he recognizes that he has to pay prices."4. Why would House hire Dr. Adams? As we've been told, Annable's character will eventually end up on House's staff. But as we saw, her diagnostic skills seemed a bit lacking at the beginning of the hour. Shore says her good deeds - she gives House the Vicodin he needs and disobeys her boss in order to prove House's theory right and save her patient - outweigh her rookie mistakes. "She starts off being very cynical about House, but by the end of the episode, she surrenders her job in order to support House's position," Shore says. "That's a rare and courageous thing to do, and I think House recognizes that. He recognizes that she's the type of person he wants on his team and has to have on his team."House Season 8 scoop: Cuddy fallout, new blood and a return to the show's roots5. Might he also just need an ally?As the episode pointed out at least three or four times, House is currently "peepless." Apparently, reckless endangerment can cost you friends. Although House will ultimately win Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) and the rest of his team back, it can't hurt to have at least one person in his corner. But Dr. Adams won't be the only new face; Episode 2 also introduces Charlyne Yi's Dr. Chi Park. "She winds up on House's team because she did something she shouldn't have done," Shore teases. "That incident, which you'll learn about in Episode 2, serves to define that character to a great extent."6. When will meet the new Dean of Medicine? With Lisa Edelstein's departure from the show, there's a new boss at Princeton-Plainsboro. Shore, of course, wouldn't dare spoil the surprise, but he promises the Dean's identity will be revealed in Episode 2. "I think it's a somewhat surprising choice, but I do think it makes sense," he says. "I think people will enjoy it."What did you think of the House premiere?

Happy 43rd Birthday, Will Cruz! What's His Best Onscreen Moment?
My apologies to married leaders Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Manley, who also share birthday festivities on September 25, and frequently will Cruz turns the big 4-3 today, which i’m already jiving for the Wild, Wild West theme with my best Carlton dance. You'll be able to’t not celebrate his birth. What’s your chosen Will Cruz moment round the silver screen? I’m coming back for the start and among Cruz’s first films, Six Degress of Separation. The elegant, dramatic comedy feels as being similar to a play (that's no coincidence since it’s an adaptation of John Guare’s Pulitzer-nominated stage work), and frequently will Cruz’s loquacious disadvantage-guy character is actually an unpredictable combination of understanding and manipulation he steals every scene he’s in. Here, we watch as Cruz befriends an aristocratic couple (and Ian McKellen!) getting a monologue about insufficient understanding and self-examination. You learn to appreciate his stilted affectation since the movie progresses. The Toughest Yellowness Six Amounts of Separation Clearly, Stockard Channing and Jesse Sutherland are perfect here too. Use a better Will Cruz scene to supply? P.S. In the event you don’t know this complete song off off by heart, you’re not-American.

No Book of Mormon Movie For Now, and 7 Other Stories You'll Be Talking About Today
Happy Wednesday! Also in today’s edition of The Broadsheet: Jeremy Renner may be King… Justin Lin ducks out of the flatlining Terminator revamp… Paramount plans to spruce up the joint… The case for Netflix… and more. · Despite their professed interest to turn the Tony Award-winning smash musical The Book of Mormon into a movie, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone officially want you to know there are no development plans presently in the works. “We did a stage show and it worked out way better than we ever thought, and we’d like it to be that for a while, you know, without contaminating it with a movie,” Parker said this week. Now you know. [THR] · Jeremy Renner is attached to star as George Leslie, the title character in an adaptation of author J. North Conway’s historical saga The King of Heists. Leslie, an otherwise unassuming gentleman in 19th-century NY City, “secretly put together a crew and masterminded a heist of nearly $3 million in cash and securities from the Manhattan Savings Institution in 1878.” Renner will also co-produce. [Deadline] · To no one’s real surprise, the glacially slow process of developing a Terminator reboot with Arnold Schwarzenegger and rights-holder Megan Ellison has sent director Justin Lin packing. He’ll make the sixth Fast and the Furious film while they get their shit together — like, you know, a script, a studio, a budget… little things. [Deadline] · Paramount plans a 25-year, $700 million overhaul of its lot on Melrose Ave.: “Portions of the lot along Melrose and limited areas within the main production area are being targeted for development, although the studio said it will maintain many of the historic structures while modernizing them. The plan also involves six properties in Hollywood adjacent to the studio.” And jobs! Reportedly more than 7,000 of them! Yay! [THR] · Are Netflix and embattled CEO Reed Hastings actually on the right track with their controversial plan to split their DVD and streaming operations? Patrick Goldstein makes a compelling case in their favor. [LAT] · Here you’ll find a conservative columnist daring to conflate the unpopularity of his ideology in Hollywood with the alienation felt by gays. Read at your discretion, and remember to spit-take away from your computer. [Big Hollywood] · Speaking of the gays, so begins the best college memoir you’ll read all day: “I was a young gay man hoping university athletics would help me fit in. Then the oil wrestling began.” [Salon] · So what’s shakin’ with North Korea? Oh, not a lot, just trying to figure out why we only had 25 refugees from there in 2010 compared to, say, 12,000 from Bhutan. “It’s too small a number,” one analyst notes. You think? 'Point Break' Rides Wave As Present day Sick Day Stash!
by John Phares Give them a call "cult classics." "Guilty pleasures." "Comfort movies." Everyone has a mental rolodex of movies that might not be terribly popular but, for some reason, they resonate in an exceedingly special way. You may first viewed it in the right moment. You may just see gold where everybody else sees feces. Regardless of the situation, fundamental essentials special faves that you simply keep stored away for sick days. These are a few of ours. Oh Keanu Reeves, you undoubtedly would be the king of awesome stunts. From trying to disarm a explosive device within bus all while riding a wild four wheeled trolley that inevitably will get go beyond, to bending the fabric of the virtual reality designed to enslave humans simply to dodge a couple of bullets, can there be whatever you can't do? There's one movie, however, that packs your finest stunt ever, now that it's formally being remade, I've no choice but to reminisce about among the finest cheesy 1990's action movies available. That movie, obviously, is Point Break. Picture this plot as it were: A gang of bank thieves are suspected of really being viewers, so former Ohio Condition quarterback switched FBI agent Johnny Utah is sent to learn to surf and apprehend them. There is a couple of things Id prefer to point (break) out here: Keanu Reeves is known as Johnny Utah, and also, since when does following your rules at football translate to being even marginally okay at surfing? The purpose (break!!) is, it does not matter. Cast all doubts aside and relish the lengthy, epic ride on a single massive wave of cheeseball. Increase the mix Gary Busey as Utahs partner Angelo Pappas (another absurd title), and Patrick Swayze playing the smart surfer, leader of bank thieves, and ultimately Utahs mentor, Bodhi, and you've got your recipe for many scrumptious corn chowdah. Among the advantages of this movie is the fact that Utah handles to hack the situation by expertly determining a grown guys butt. Thats right, Utah observes among the gang of viewers mooning people constantly, after a lengthy evening of analyzing old bank robbery footage, he espies among the thieves flashing his macho tush towards the camera. Allow it to be known that Keanu never does not remember a set of cheekbones, ever. Obviously, the film culminates in possibly the finest skydiving gun fight ever produced, the one that the Myth Busters themselves demonstrated to become completely impossible, which means you know its good. Utah finds themself facing Bodhi inside a plane because he and just one person in their bank slowly destroying crew, the Ex-Presidents (appropriately named simply because they put on presidents masks, duh) remain. Lo and behold, theres only two parachutes for that three of these, so obviously Keanu is left out and instructed to jump after them to be able to do not be presented for his or her crimes. What develops are only able to be referred to as pure gold, and you're simply best seeing it to think it. I wont spoil the ending for you personally, but allows just say it is the ride a person can have. For the remake, I honestly dont observe how the initial could be capped, unless of course Academy Award champion Kathryn Bigelow occupies the helm once again to provide us an ideal wave of adrenaline moving action. Inform us that which you think about the "Point Break" remake within the comments section as well as on Twitter!

Peter Jackson Funding Search for 'Real Killer' in West Memphis Three Murders
'Lord of the Rings' director Peter Jackson isn't just interested in vanquishing evil on the big screen: He also wants to find the real killer in the still unsolved West Memphis Three case. Even though the trio has been released from prison, Jackson (who also directed 'The Lovely Bones') will continue to fund the effort to clear their names and find the real murderer of three small boys, EW reports. Jackson may not have been as vocal a supporter of the West Memphis Three as, say, Johnny Depp, but for the past several years, he's quietly funded private investigations and forensic experts in an effort to overturn their 1994 convictions. Jason Baldwin, Jessie Misskelley Jr., and Damien Echols were freed on August 19, but are technically still considered guilty. "The ongoing work will focus on proving the convicted men's innocence, as it always has," Jackson's manager, Ken Kamins told EW. He added that Jackson and his partner Fran Walsh hope their efforts will "lead to the unmasking of the actual killer." The case was the subject of the award-winning 1996 HBO documentary 'Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills,' and celebrities including Depp, Eddie Vedder, Natalie Maines, and Henry Rollins rallied to support the teens whom they believed to be wrongly convicted. "When Peter and Fran got involved, they had to decide how to best serve the case," Kamins told EW. "Everyone else who was raising money and bringing public attention to the case. Peter and Fran, therefore, decided to put their attention into funding and spearheading DNA work, hiring forensic and other experts, plus extensive private investigations into all aspects of the case." Kamins continued: "Because Peter and Fran's role required a very close relationship with the defense lawyers, in particular Damien's team, they have always respected and understood that their role had to be of a confidential nature." He added that over the years, Jackson has become close friends with Damien and his wife Lorri. "They have always believed that if they could get Damien free, Jason and Jessie would benefit too." Now all three are free, but the filmmakers don't consider their work over. "Peter and Fran are heavily involved in ongoing investigations, and the release of the guys is far from the end of the story."
